on becoming an ameteur fullstack dev + crushing your goals with a hobbyist mindset

disclaimer: title may contain satire

i've had an underlying interest in web development since i discovered custom themes on tumblr as a kid.

and as with most interests of mine, i have this drive to understand the inner workings. the history. related fields and how they work in tandem. i need to understand on a fundamental level... i feel extremely motivated by the concept of learning something new.

im the type of person that feels like i could accomplish literally anything if i genuinely commit to it. obviously, this leads to many dead end hobbies where i learn everything i can and end up deciding it's not for me.

accomplishing small goals only serves to boost your self confidence - even if it isnt your thing thing, at least you can say you tried and succeeded!

with this in mind - i'm trying my hand at web development. maybe ill dabble in a programming language or two, not with a career in mind, but just to prove that i can.

i urge anyone with a similar drive to learn to absolutely pursue whatever catches your eye. even if it isnt lucrative. even if you're afraid you wont be as good as the people already in the hobby.

and think about it, if you pursue new skills as a hobbyist, nobody can shoot you down for not being pro enough (since that was never the goal in the first place)!
